Rich Wiehe has been involved with our medical practice for approximately ten (10) years as our business coach. He has engaged us in multiple arenas, none less important than the resolution of conflict between employees and business owners. He has continually facilitated programs that sharpen our vision, values and cultural objectives. My relationship with Rich, which started because of our common interest in people, has grown into a strong friendship. I have also been fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of his work having been closely involved with him as he has applied his skills in effectively helping our organization.
Like any good thing, it didn’t happen over night. Rich Wiehe’s role as a facilitator of change has evolved over time. As he says, “it is the sum total of a lifetime of experiences.”
What he shares with people is what he has learned “in the trenches” under a variety of circumstances both as a manager, an employee, and a church leader. The wisdom he has gained from these experiences has given him a refreshing way of looking at renewing and revitalizing organizations and the people they represent. He is able to do this because he has gained unique insights into what motivates people, and for pinpointing the areas of need to permit growth, renewal and success. Few people can correctly identify a problem; even fewer know how to positively correct the situation and are able to make the solutions real and practical. Rich is not one of these people. His results are impactful, dynamic, stimulating and, best of all, they work!
Like any other activity of this nature its ultimate success depends on the dedication and motivation of the recipients. He never forces himself or his ideas. But his unique way of presenting ideas and information is strongly motivational and draws people in. One of the things I appreciate the most is that Rich does not solve any problems. What he does do is help people cast a fresh new vision and problem solve their own way to success.
Rich not only cares about the prosperity and success of organizations but also the individuals involved. He has an overriding concern for how people are getting along during the change process. This sets him apart from others. I have found him to be direct, passionate about what he does, practical and a no non-sense kind of person. And yet, he expresses his thoughts in ways that are easy to accept and apply.
This combination of communication skills, insight, and genuine sincerity make it possible for him to win over skeptics as well. He is also set apart by his strong adherence to Christian principles. Rich is a man of faith, a man of integrity, and he accepts people where they are and begins his work at that point.
I believe the techniques he uses would be effective in any setting because they resonate with basic human nature, they make good sense, and because they can be easily adapted to fit the situation. In my mind, Rich has put his finger on the pulse of what makes people and organizations tick.
Rich has applied these principles in our church and has been instrumental in helping leadership implement changes that are producing growth, organizational development, and improve communication. We are applying these principles within the framework of our Christian values, and the result is the entire culture of our 300+ member church in being positively changed.

Rich Wiehe has been coaching and consulting with my firm for the past 5 years. What he has helped us accomplish is nothing short of miraculous. Rich has many gifts and talents he brings the equation. However, there are specific things at which he really excels.
First, Rich's powers of observation and discernment are profound. His ability to look at a business and its people and pinpoint specific areas that need help and/or tweaking is amazing. Specifically, in our situation, he utilized a system to indentify the companies’ needs and the needs of the people and began to address them one at a time.
Secondly, he is a great coach. As CEO, he has helped me to make some tough decisions and then implement them. "Our staff are being empowered day by day."
In August of 2005, my company contracted with Rich Wiehe for consulting and coaching services. We had started our company in February 2002. My husband and I were managing our staff of approximately 15 staff members. The business, a medical career training school, had two locations.
Our primary concerns were that we wanted to build a team environment within our staff, empower staff, and create a managerial team to free my husband and I for strategic and developmental work.
From the moment we hired Rich, we began to notice measureable results within the company. Within the first several months, we had the beginnings of a Management Team in place. Rich had honed in on those staff members who were, in his words, the most “hungry for” additional responsibilities. He began coaching this team to take on their managerial functions.
Under Rich’s guidance and coaching, we created monthly Team Meetings and began to distinguish and train our Corporate Culture. Rich engaged deeply with our entire staff, nurturing a sense of trust and respect with the team.
Throughout 2006 and 2007, we worked closely with Rich. Over that period of time, our team developed a deep bond. Our Culture took hold. The Management team flourished.
My husband and I were able to take a lengthy Sabbatical from the day to day operations of the company and pursue personal growth and developement. By 2nd quarter 2008, we were clear that the staff and the owners had developed to the point where we could “go it on our own” without the day to day support of our coach.
As of July 2008, the primary concerns that we had hired Rich to facilitate have all been met. We have a beautiful team environment in the company. Our staff are being empowered day by day. Our managerial team is firmly in place. My husband and I are working on strategic and developmental work.
We maintain a “call as needed” relationship with Rich. I personally feel it is the highest acknowledgement of Rich’s efficacy as coach, that he facilitated our company to the point of functioning independently.
Rich is an extraordinary human being, committed to authenticity and integrity. His interpersonal skills are superb. He is a joy to work with. I consider it a blessing to have had the opportunity to work with him in building my company. I consider it an honor to maintain an ongoing relationship with Rich as my friend.
